The Puppy Guide: All you need to know about getting and looking after a puppy.

How much do puppies cost?

If you get a puppy from a breeder you will usually be required to pay for it. The price of puppies can vary greatly and is mainly dependant on the type of breed and how much demand there is for the breed. For purebred puppies you should be prepared to pay anywhere between £200 and £1,000+.

If you get your puppy from a rescue centre it is more common for you to be asked to make a donation to the centre which can be anything up to £200.

Of course there are a lot of other costs to consider when getting a puppy - pet insurance, food, toys, your time etc. Make sure it's the right decision for you.

When it comes to puppies, a low price won't necessarily mean you are getting the best deal. Make sure you are happy that the breeder is reputable and that the puppies and dogs have been well taken care of.
