Maltese Puppy

The Maltese puppy is classed as a toy dog. It is both affectionate and lively and is a loyal companion although it can be suspicious of strangers.

The origins of the Maltese dog are not known for certain. Most believe that the breed was first established on the island of Malta, while others believe it was Sicily. It was kept as a companion dog by European nobility and first arrived in the UK during the 16th Century.

Maltese puppies are very small and an average adult will grow only to around 25cm tall. Its coat is long, straight, silky and usually white in colour.

Full grooming is required every day and a small amount of exercise is needed.
