Jack Russell Puppy

Jack Russell Terriers are popular dogs to have as pets from when they are puppies. There is no breed standard for them as the Kennel Club do not recognise them! Hence the Jack Russell's features can vary greatly from dog to dog.

The first Jack Russells were bred from Wire Fox Terriers in Devon in the 19th Century, mainly for following hounds and later for keeping vermin down.

Jack Russells are energetic, intelligent and excitable dogs. They are also loyal and amusing pets and make excellent guard dogs.

Like a lot of small dogs Jack Russells need to get plenty of exercise.

Most Jack Russell Terrier adults will grow to no more than around 35cm in height.
