Great Danes combine huge stature with great elegance.
The history of the Great Dane dates back to royal households in Europe during the Middle Ages. There were very much a status symbol and used in wild boar hunt.
The breed requires much exercise, food, and will benefit from obedience training. The sheer size of this breed means ownership is a heavy responsibility.
Great Danes will usually grow to a height of around 71-76cm; hence puppies are very large compared to other breeds. There coat is sleek and short and colour varies from yellow to orange striped with brindle, fawn, blue, black and harlequin. The ears are usually cropped in America but this is illegal in Britain.
