Dachshund Puppy

Dachshund puppies are usually very small and an adult will grow to around only 11 kilos or 5 kilos for a miniature breed. They are a lively breed and make good watch dogs.

Dachshunds were originally bred to hunt foxes, rabbits and badgers and were larger than the breed standard today. However, towards the end of the 19th Century a much smaller version of the breed was developed.

Dachshunds legs are very short compared to the rest of their bodies. They do not require a great deal of exercise and the coat needs moderate grooming. Their coat can be a variety of colours.
